About the Jewish Studies Minor

The Jewish Studies minor introduces students to a multi-disciplinary study of Jewish histories, Jewish texts and their multiple interpretations, Jewish experiences and Jewish identities. Our students learn a broad range of methods and critical concepts in order to investigate these issues within their social, cultural, historical and political contexts.

The Jewish Studies minor appeals to students from humanities and social sciences departments including History, Religious Studies, American Studies, and Sociology. A minor in Jewish Studies prepares students to pursue a variety of humanities-related careers. Students who have minored in Jewish Studies at UCD have gone on to rabbinical and cantorial training, graduate school, law school, and teaching among other careers. The Jewish Studies minor has recently been expanded to reflect the many courses offered and made more flexible so that students can take an array of courses in different areas or pursue their particular interests in a specific discipline. More student choice, more course choices from which to choose.
